Awesome purcase! People say those tv’s are very thin and have very good picture.
That box is huge! I still remember how big the box was from ny 37′ Sony Bravia!

Hi Gustav, this is something I posted in the previous blog. I think you missed it.

why not make a different game mode for the “truth seekers” like me?
This way BF can be fun for ALL people! Not just fans of arcade shooters will be happy with the arcade feel, bur also the sim fans can play your game without spitting all over the screen =)

It would be also fun, If a player can make a private lobby for inviting friends (or some random people) and in this mode he can customise weapon effectiveness using sliders! (giving a pistol that can kill a tank will be fun for arcade fans, and sim fans can make sim-like weapon damage effects, vehicle HP and other stuff) Also he can include or exclude those weapons or vehicles from his match!

What do you think about this?
As I said before, BC has a huge potensial. This game can give joy to all people! Just include different game modes and everybody will be happy! Imagine how popular it will be! Give players the freedom of choosing and the crowd will love it!
Think about it, you still have time…

BF is moving to a harder feel all together and we got games in the pipeline for more hardcore players (read BF3).

It’s a cool idea but a hard idea to sell to my producers since it will only be used by a very little % of the users and it would cost A LOT of money to develop a custom feature that needs to push out it’s settings to the server etc.
Even harder if it going into the console games, then it needs to work on both PS3, X360 and PC :)

I am pretty confident in that even that we aren’t supporting “mods” of BF1943 PC for example, since we are working hard on getting it out as good as possible right now, some clever person will find a way to modify it anyway and you can make the mods you like! ;)

uhh… fine. I just thought that you are sponsored by EA and have alot of development funds, it seems I was wrong.
But hey! I updated my weapon chart! Check iit!

  • Gustav

ËA owns DICE so yes we got funds but it’s still a limited pot per project.
I would say that it’s not the money that is the problem but the people, there is a limited amount of people out there that can do our work and they are all being fought between developers and projects :D

I cant say to much about what is going to happen on for example BF3 with their custom support etc but on my current project we havent planned that just yet but it’s still in a early phase.

I would personally want to see much more custom support for both modders and clanwars etc but if we are honest to our selfs, the percentage that is playing cw’s or modding is really small amount of the players that buy the game. So it can be hard to “sell the idea” to the producers ;)

I am not planning to buy this game for my PC (It’s a low spec 2.1 single core processor, only 1 gig of RAM and a ATI last gen card. I can’t run anything more powerfull than Half-life 2 (Episode 2 already had lags on my machine).
I swithed to the PS3 for gaming and PC for working.

I don’t quite understand why You stared to talk about second-hand modding? But I understood that making two game modes (similar but with differend damage effects) is hard for DICE’s employees.

But hey! You said BF3 is going to be for Hardcore players! Is that really true?! Or BF3 will still maintain DICE’s balance system??
I REALLY hope that BF3 will have all that stuff I am dreaming of!
(Well atleast authentic and more realistic, like a real war-game!)

Hmmm your current project. I forgot if your working on BC2 or 1943 or maybe even another project. I remember DICE saying they had 5 projects being developed. If I remember right it was:

    BF: Heroes
    BF1943
    Bad Company 2
    BF3
Can’t remember the other one, either BC1 or Mirrors Edge 2.

Do you guys have more projects that DICE hasn’t announced yet? Probably can’t answer that.

Anyways I can’t wait for BF3. I hope it delivers different aspects of what ppl like. For example, all out warfare, infantry combat, Hard core players, plenty of vehicles like 1942(land, sea, and air). I can’t wait the day until I sea a naval battle with planes, subs, carriesrs, destroyers, lurking in the battlefield.

Hey Gustav, I have Question for you.

Do you ever think Battlefield on consoles will ever have more than 24 players? Maybe 40 players or more. I mean we know the Frostbite engine take a lot of bandwidth, but it is also maturing everyday. I know 24 players works and everything, but I’m sure DICE would like it higher to make it feel like the old BF games. Where crazy stuff happens and everything is unpredictable. I’m also sure that you guys have to work harder in order to make it seem that 24 is the same as say 40+. I’m sure DICE would have never come up with Gold rush if they never had the 24 player limit.

Ok, so do you ever think the console will ever get more than 24 players?

  • Gustav

I cant promise anything since I dont know myself but I would like to see more then 24 players in the future.

BF3 is developing the engine to take more players, something that I hope consoles also can take advantage of later on!
