Updates

Hello!
Just got a promotion, I am now a full “Designer” instead of my old title “Associate Designer”, do I need to update my buisness cards? =)

Also remade the PC control settings, not fully done yet and that means that I need to re-tweak all the vehicles, thats actually going to be fun!

Now its time for the UEFA championship finals with some beer!

    The site should have a lot of info but I cant tell you when it will be up, could be at release or just before!

    I’m sorry that I cant give out his email directly, if he wants to be contacted he can put up his own blog =)
    But send an email to info@dice.se and let them know what you wont and he should at least get it forwarded to him, we try to answer all emails sent to that email in some kind of way!

    The Full desighner thing, does this mean, that you desighn all of the game’s features now? Man, that must be fun endeed xD

    Great News Gustav congratulations :) for the promotion , keep on the good work , and cant you give a hint about 3 things ;

    1- NUmber of players , since you said earlier that 24 players where chosen because of bandwidth limits of the consoles i think pc version wont suffer the from the same problem ?

    2- Ammo and Fuel , is the pc version really gonna have unlimited ammo ? And i got ask a question about modding , in 42 all weapons can be edited to have more ammo or even infinite ammo , so can we edit weapons and vehicles just like in bf42 and bf2 ? Is the game modder friendly ?

    Also in 42 i managed to create a fuel system by adding the overheating system used in weapons to the engines , that creates great gaming moments like a b17 landing with just one engine . Also used the rocket engine from secret weapons .

    3- Modding tools , like i said is the game modder friendly ? Will we be able to make maps and mods for it ? And are you guys gonna do beta testing of the pc version with community testers ?

    kill camera must be replaced by the bf2 red damage circles,
    with one change.
    the red half circle on the center of the screen will stay more time in the sreen, so we can clearly see the side we have been hit by and as far away the enemy is, the more fat-big the circle will become

    killed from 10 meters away ( +
    killed from 20 meters away (( +
    killed from 30 meters away ((( +
    killed from 40+ meters away (((( +

    the + is the center target of the screen

    the answer to my qestion is simple.
    there is no prone postition because TROEDSSON (lead dezigner of battlefield series) is arogant and cant admit his mistakes!
    for examble….
    cod had the autoregeneration of helth
    years have past until he give the “green lite” to DICE team to make autoregeneration health system cod style for console battlefield !
    he is not a person who will eazily adopt good elements from other games . he seems to be selfis and arogant thinking that his a genious.
    he alone prove this words because on the year 2009 he adopts cod system. he could do that starting with modern combat(2006) ,but no, he is the man, he knows

    the same will happen with prone position
    you will see prone position in bad company 5
    its a matter of time.
    until then he will mess up bad company 1,2,3,4 and 1943
    prone position is an issue for troedson to prove to his self that his stiil a good dezigner
    - for us he is a paradise and hell at he same time
    who knows what is he eating the 6 past years he cant see obviouws stuff
    people begging for more players and prone position in this foroums and he is thinking hes own way. (HE GOT OLD??? AND GRAMPY???)

    some one may say ‘ FROSTBITE engine is to good and you will not have a problem hiding in some real looking boushes”
    i just want to say that in real world people see with teyr own eyes and which is no comparison to frostbite crafics and steel go prone

    congrats on the promotion :)

    will the PC controls config file be tweakable to allow advanced control settings? For example in BF2 by editing the Controls.con file you cound make space bar both jump and paracute. Games like Quake wars: enemy territory allowed very advanced and highly customizable control tweaks, for example if i wanted i could set up the same key to do many many different things depending on what class or vehicle i was in at the time.

    I hope BF1943 and BFBC2 have powerful scripting options too.

    1 – I cant give you any more information right now but I can say that the PC version will differ from the console versions in some ways.

    2 – The gameplay is going to be the same as in the console version. And it’s not “unlimited” ammo or health, thats a bad word to describe it. You wont be able to spam more than what you could do in BF2 if you played in a squad, it have been proven to work perfeectly and the critics that played our game agree =)
    But we are looking into other solutions also.

    3 – We are not adding modding support to BF1943, as I been saying before, this is an arcade game with limited time and budget to make these big community tools. I leave that to other projects. We have been focused on gameplay and making a kick ass game!

    Space will be jump and parachute as in BF 2142! =)

    Battlefield have always had different controls layouts for soldier vehicles and airplanes and so will BF1943 so customize away!

    yup but BF2 didn’t unless you tweaked your config file manually, i just gave that as an example though. what i ment is having support for much more advanced config changes which can only be done by editing the files. For example i could make the same key do a different thing depending on what class i was or what different vehicle i was in.

    Thats what i loved about ET:QW you could change anything to have it how you wanted….say i wanted chat to say on screen longer i could set the time it stays on screen. Rather than having to keep creating a squad and getting friends to join i could just set up a key bind to auto create a squad and name it and also invite all my friends….all from 1 key press. now thats customisable controls :)

    Would love the Battlefield games to have such control and flexability.

    Wow thats awesome. I never was into changing my configs for the keyboard, but the squad invite thing with just one press of a button sounds really good.

    I already been designing most features in Battlefield 1943 on the hands-on areas, this is a more “correct” grade for my current position =)

    Good idea in theory but I dont think it would work in the actual game.
    Th reason for that is that you dont want a lot of annoying red circles on your screen all the time.

    But we have greatly improved the hit indication system from BC1. You can now have mutilple “circles” if you get shoot from more players at the same time and it also points to the direction where you got hit from even if you turn around. (Dynamic hit indication)

    I do agree with Troedsson in this matter, prone havent proved to be useful in the console games of Battlefield. Its har enough to see crouching players because of the high detail overgrowth and terrain. Proning would make us have less grass and objects since we dont want snipers to be overpowered laying somewhere.

    The reason COD has it is because their levels is really small, we hve huge levels with vehicles on it and it’s not that easy to se obvious sniping places like in more “linear” games like cod.

    but when sniper is liing in the grass he cant see anything ealse but grass infront of his eyes.
    you could fix it so 4 seconds will be needed for setting up when transsisoning from prone to takeing a knee position

    from prone to taking a knee the player wont be able to move and shoot for 3-4 seconds
