There has ALWAYS been parachutes in the game. What the hell are you talking about? No wonder this game is complete crap..

As Mozer said, bad Company did not have parachutes, and since that was the last Battlefield game released it’s now “back in” again =)

I don’t count BC as a Bf game.

I have a couple of question if I may

*Are the carriers destructible?
*Does the game have a regional limit like BF:H? Will Aussie or Asian get the game?
*Why do you use handwriting-style characters on the Logo (the word “Pacific”), the menu and the HUD?
*Do the Japanese soldiers speak Japanese?
*A interwiew with EA DICE some time earlier said that future battlefield games may have action element added from Mirror’s Edge, what about BF1943?
*I’m quite confused by the “bunker” (not the ones that can call bombers, but mentioned in the walkthrough of Gametrailers.com), is it totally undestructible, or can be damaged by TNTs and bombers?

Will BF 1943 have the same spotting system as Bad Company? The spotting system of BC was the games biggest downfall because there was literally no way to hide once spotted – as you showed up as a red dot on EVERY enemy soldier’s HUD.

From all the preview videos ive seen, it seems that spotting system IS indeed in place in 1943. How about limiting the spotted enemy to the mini map only? Having it blantently on the main screen is the equivilant of using a wall hack cheat.

3 maps, pfft! you’re joking right. How many times do we need to play Wake?

I think that many people, when complaining about the size of the game, havent realized that this is a Download Only game, not a full box-title like Bad Company 1 and Bad Company 2 =)

I honestly don’t understand all the negativity, I loved BF42 and was progressively more and more disappointed with each generation of Battlefield. Vietnam was just odd, BF2 was especially a disaster imo, I played for a while at launch, I was disappointed and gave up on it. BF2142 is BF2 only more unstable, ridiculous and buggy. Being a PC gamer I never played Bad Company but the reviews weren’t exactly stellar.

I prefered BF42 and mostly played in the clan community in 8vs8 and 12vs12. The player balance is perfect, never liked the 64s anyways. The classic maps are great, to me it looks like an update to the only decent Battlefield game. It’s supposed to be a Net Download, as long as it has a decent price and sticks to it’s guns instead of trying to please everybody, I think it will do great.

I think the real problem is that there are 2 different communities who play BF games, the ones who only got into the franchise in the BF2-BF2142 days are understandibly frustrated with all these Bad Company, Heroes and BF43 games but I prefered BF42 and Codename Eagle, I think I’ve waited long enough for remake of the classic and I can’t wait.

why not? it just is as much a battlefield game as any other, just more other features! (whats wrong with a singleplayer feature and full destruction in a battlefield game?)

I’m completely with you on this McSeb. I too long for the glory days of 12v12 competition in 42.

Thus, a question to Mr. Halling: Is there a plan to release additional maps or mappacks for purchase after launch? Will it be on a timely schedule? (1-3 months after launch rather than 6)

Or, will different BF1943 games be released sometime after this one(BF1943 France, BF1943 East Front, etc)?

What about dedicated servers for the PC side of this console game?

Listening servers are not a very good idea, please spend some time on developing a proper dedicated server as well as support for hosting a BF43 server via Linux.

Been playing since the original demo…no not Wake Island. For you to claim never to like 64 player maps means that you were never the real intended audience for BF. Sorry, but what clans wanted was not their goal for 1942. I am sure you were one of those individuals who wanted to play Berlin 24/7 because it was more like the CS that way.

I won’t go on long but lets just say the battlefield 3 I was waiting for did not have a max player count of 24, with 3 maps I’ve played hundreds of hours on already…

Sorry.. It was just such a kick in the balls let down to first lean of 1943 then a minute later learn the battlefield I’d known and loved was only a pale emaciated husk of the game I grew up with.

Its really a shame that the majority of people here gripe and complain. Feedback is one thing but just being spiteful and petty does nothing productive. I like PC games and consoles too. I play both and enjoy the BF games quite a lot. I liked the PC versions of BF2 the most till Bad Co. came out. WOuld I like prone? sure! Would I like parachutes? Yes! Does every game have to be the same? No. I can play each game and develop the tactics I want to play how I want.

I think many people here are missing the bigger picture, namely if you keep just making the same game over and over again you end up with a COD franchise (although 4 was great fun for awhile). Or worse a Madden-esqe with nothing but new colors. Or as we say inmy industry when we have the same model to introduce the next year its made with BNC BOLD NEW COLORS.

I see this DLC game as a holdover till the next BF game as its development time has been shortened. I for one will buy two copies one for me and wone for my daughther who plays with me on her xbox and PC. Although the age restriction locked her out of Bad CO, which was a bit silly.

If your going to use the name Battlefield 1943… you immediately set a very high bar for yourself. Battlefield 1942 was an epic game. It’s hard to find anyone who would disagree. Therefore, by calling this 1943, people are, of course, expecting greatness on the level of or surpassing 1942.

In short…this was a bad move. The kind of game you guys are putting out is on the level of Heroes. Not to say that I’m comparing it visually to Heroes since you guys seem to cringe and talk about how “the artists have more work to do” whenever that comes up. Ha… And I hope you fully captured the meaning of that “ha…”

But getting back on topic, you guys could have called it absolutely anything else…”Battlefield: Pacific” or “Battlfield: Pacific Thingy to give us something to occupy ourselves with until the real 1943 or BF3 comes out.” What a fun acronym that would be…

Long story short, regardless of how good you make the game, if you call it 1943… people are going to expect something like the kind of jump we saw from 1942 to BF2… Not an upgraded version of Heroes.

You guys shot yourselves in the foot at the beginning of the race.

Zeitgeist, multiplayer games aren’t like films or books – it’s okay to keep improving the same game over and over again if you’ve hit on a formula that works. Battlefield 2 still has around 8,000 people playing at any given time and 1942 and 2142 each have around half that. People keep playing these games despite how dated and horribly imbalanced they are because there is absolutely nothing else like them and that situation is unlikely to change if EA/DICE only plan to release Heroes, 1943, and Bad Company 2 in the near future.

I’d say the core audience has a right to complain when EA is practically single-handedly killing the large-scale FPS genre.

well possibly that is because the consoles don’t have that much storage, well my ps3 does have 250gb storage but most people don’t have that much:P

What will be the max player cap on the PC version? Many Veteran Battlefield gamers that play primarily on the PC would be very disappointed for such a potentially great game to be subjected to a “Console limit.”

Don’t get me wrong. It worked in Battlefield Bad Company. The maps were concentrated enough for the Gold capture game-play, and they reduced the size when they introduced Conquest, but re converted BF42 maps had a much larger scale, making it ideal for at LEAST 32+ players. I’m primarily a PC gamer and against console gaming, but when I played Bad Company, it felt great. The controls worked and the game play was overwhelming with the addition of 90% destruction. This will become tremendously better on the PC with a mouse/keyboard, making for much faster game play. Hopefully you can see my concern.

If the game does not sell well on the PC platform please do not BLAME PIRACY.

You can blame the following:

- overall game designed focused on the least common denominator
- only 3 maps
- Maps reduced in size
- your health system
- your ammo system
- only 24 players
- no dedicated servers **
- no mod tools **

** EA/DICE have had no comment or they can’t talk about these features. Based on past games EA based games, at this point in development we can only determine that these features are not going to be part of the game upon release if at all.

From my past experience working closely with EALA on Medal of Honor AA/BT/SH/PA/A I would suggest waiting for a demo before purchasing or wait for the 1.3 patch.

So to recap, when 1943 does not sell well on the PC platform, please do not blame piracy, please take a close look at where you got your “customer info” and how you released this product to your core BF customer.

I think they should have spent more time making a point that they understand that it’s taking a long time to get the next major Battlefield game to us…so they decided to put this out in the mean time in order to keep us satisfied. I understand the motivation behind making a big deal out of this….money and what not. But the excitement they are trying to generate around this game is on par with a full fledged battlefield game and yet everyone can see that it’s obviously not. A lipstick on a pig type of situation.

That coupled with the fact that they called it Battlefield 1943 only adds to this false sense of greatness that is being thrust upon us.

It would almost have been better if they had just started developing it…put a short video out saying what I just said…that they know it’s just a little battlefield game to give us our fix….and let that be it. Let the grapevine spread it from there.
